Volunteering Information

We hope you may like to take your involvement with the University further, by offering help and advice that can assist our current and future students.

The Alumni Office is currently working on a number of schemes that will hopefully benefit the University and its future students and below are a number of ways in which you could get involved see the links below:

Guest Speaking

Former students often make excellent guest speakers, whether at special lectures for current students or at Open Days for prospective students. It is important for them to hear first hand advice and experiences from graduates about the benefits of HE and future career prospects.

International Volunteers

Huddersfield welcomes students from over 80 countries each year and we look forward to welcoming many more. We are currently looking at ways in which our international alumni can become more involved, to help us achieve this. As a former international student you could:

  • Assist staff at international HE recruitment fairs
  • Help set up a local international alumni branch
  • Act as a contact point for university staff, offering local knowledge and advice
  • Offer advice to prospective international students about Huddersfield
  • Provide a link for recent graduates returning home

Work Placements (Internships)

Students on sandwich courses gain valuable experience from spending a year out in industry. It improves their business knowledge, focuses attention on a specific career and vastly improves their employment prospects.

The company gains an extra resource of skills at a relatively low cost and gets the chance to test a student's ability with regards to possible future employment.

If you think your company could benefit from having a student on placement, please contact the Alumni Office or tick the relevant box on our questionnaire. Your details will then be forwarded to one of our Placement Units.

Career Profiles

A short profile detailing your time at the University and your career path since, significantly helps our recruitment campaigns by providing an excellent insight into life at university and what can be achieved after gaining a degree. Such profiles are a valuable contribution to our prospectuses, course brochures and our website, as they provide real-life experiences to prospective students.
