Mechanical Engineering industries in the UK suffer from a lack of graduates with appropriate skills. The MEng/BEng Mechanical programme seeks to provide a sound education in areas of mechanical engineering through an integrated and coordinated programme that includes a range of course titles. The courses are designed to stimulate interest in students from a variety of backgrounds and are all accredited by the I.Mech.E.
Students applying for these courses will typically be studying Mathematics and Science or Technology at Advanced Level, other entry qualifications include National Diploma, AVCE or GNVQ in Engineering.
Engineering Foundation Yearthe Foundation Year is Year 0 of a degree course. It is an excellent preparation for individuals who want to study engineering but, for whatever reason, are not currently qualified for direct entry to Year 1 of their chosen degree. The Foundation Year develops competence and confidence in the fundamentals of mathematics and physics relevant to the study of engineering. As such it qualifies the students for year 1 entry to any engineering degree at the University of Huddersfield.
The HND Mechanical and manufacturing Top-up course allows students with a HNC to achieve a HND in one year, studying part-time. A further two years of part-time study, or one year full time study enables students to obtain a BEng(Hons) Engineering with Technology Management qualification.
The Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and Technology Subject Area offers more than twenty courses.
Pick up the phone and talk to the Subject Area Leader or one of our Admissions Tutors, or send an e-mail and we will help you decide which course is best for you.
In the 2004 Subject Review the QAA said that they had "complete confidence" in the subject area and commended it in all categories - the best result possible!
