Outreach activities

The School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Huddersfield has a dedicated Schools Liaison and Outreach programme that aims to engage young people of all ages with a variety of activities to stimulate their interest in these subject areas.  Our activities are supportive of the university's strategy for widening participation and we work with the Schools and Colleges Liaison Service of the University.  We are keen to work with all those involved in progression to Higher Education. 

If you would like to bring a group of school students to the University we run a series of Subject Specific Focus days across the year.  This is in addition to the university Open Days and gives smaller groups of young people the chance to experience subject tasters, campus tours, interactive laboratory sessions and participate in student life.  Alternatively, we may be able to organise an individual visit outside of those dates. 

Members of the school regularly go out to visit schools and colleges giving talks and running workshops and other organised external events. We can arrange visits to the University for Connexions or other IAG staff wanting to find out about our specific subject areas.

We have included information and some teacher resource materials to support the curriculum as well as advance notice of forthcoming events or workshops. We are able to offer INSET workshops across a broad range of topics within our subject areas. We welcome the opportunity to discuss curriculum and assessment issues with staff in schools and colleges.

We have included some 'fun stuff' for pupils and students where they can test their knowledge, download and try out some of our in-house games and take a whirlwind tour of life as an undergraduate.
