The MSc by Research can be undertaken full-time over one year or part-time over two years. It is assessed entirely by research output, which can be presented either as a thesis or as a portfolio of work. The MSc by Research is ideally suited to those working in an industrial or commercial environment who wish to undertake a relatively short programme of research in a specific area of interest to their company or to themselves. It is also ideal for those who want to experience postgraduate research prior to committing to a PhD.
