The research areas highlighted above may also be available for MSc by Research (please contact the relevant member of staff to check this). The MSc by Research can be undertaken full-time over one year or part-time over two years. It is assessed entirely by research output, which can be presented either as a thesis or as a portfolio of work. The MSc by Research is ideally suited to those working in an industrial or commercial environment who wish to undertake a relatively short programme of research in a specific area of interest to their company or to themselves. It is also ideal for those who want to experience postgraduate research prior to committing to a PhD.
