This collection of historical books on diet and nutrition was donated to the University Library by Professor John Yudkin, the eminent nutritionalist. It contains many items of interest to social historians, sociologists and all those interested in the history of diet and nutrition.

Comprises over 13,000 printed items and some manuscripts accumulated by the WHS has been deposited. This includes histories of many chapels (but no registers), the Methodist Recorder and other journals and much material relating to the Wesley family. It is a nationally important research resource for Methodist history.

G. H. Wood Collection
The famous statistician G. H. Wood (1874-1945) was the Secretary for Huddersfield and District Woollen Manufacturers and Spinners Association from 1907. He was a free thinker and an associate of A. L. Bowley, who read widely and was active in a variety of local radical movements. He collected wage statistics over a broad field and published much of his collected material. His extensive library, first loaned to Huddersfield Technical College in c.1925, includes manuscript wages material, monographs, pamphlets, government reports and periodicals The subjects covered include economic and social history, education, health, housing and women's history. There is also a valuable collection of pamphlets published by feminist organisations in the early twentieth century as well as a substantial set of Fabian Society material.
