Entry Requirements
Designed for graduates with a first degree in Architecture, this fully accredited course leads to registration as an architect at Master's level. The interim award of Diploma in Architecture gives exemption from Part 2 of the RIBA Examination in Architecture.
The course is based around design activity and considers the cultural, environmental and professional. The aims of the course are:
The first year is structured to emphasise design theory, urban issues, appropriate technology and sustainable issues as well as the enhancement of computer aided design skills. The second year concentrates on a major design thesis and a linked dissertation of your choice.
The MArch degree is awarded after a minimum further year of practical experience, coursework and examinations that provide exemption from ARB and RIBA Part 3. Both awards carry recognition under EC Directive 85/834 on architects' training.
The course comprises a mixture of studio work and lectures and encourages a close interaction between students and staff, to engender an enthusiastic and creative atmosphere.

The year is focused on topics of your own choice and comprises a 10,000 word dissertation and a major design thesis.
The Part 3 examination takes place after at least one year in architectural practice at which stage the MArch is awarded. You may then apply to join the Register of Architects.
