Entry requirements for this course are normally the following:

  • Offers are usually made at 200-250 points at A level or equivalent, depending on the subject studied.
  • Additional requirements are normally GCSE in English grade C or above and GCSE in Mathematics grade B or above.

Introduction

This course focuses on the development of skills in software development and the exploitation of computing applications such as financial modelling, artificial intelligence, demographic trends, marketing, engineering, scientific experimentation and virtual reality.

Career Opportunities

Graduates find employment as computing specialists in a range of manufacturing, scientific, engineering, commercial and financial organisations. Many graduates have become consultants or have moved to a managerial role with organisations such as Accenture, BP, Microsoft, Logica, Syngenta and HBOS.

Placement

A 12-month work placement provides the opportunity for you to apply your knowledge and skills to a real work environment. Students gain in experience, maturity and motivation through this managed process and return better equipped to their studies, and to then obtain the graduate job of their choice. A professional body survey acknowledges that graduates with industrial experience are generally much more attractive to employers.

GCSE and AS Level Mathematics Bridging Courses

If you do not have the minimum mathematics entry requirement for your chosen course, we offer a free Mathematics Bridging Course. Available during the summer it enables successful students to make an application for entry on to some of our courses. You can progress at your own pace which results in a very high success rate.

Further Studies

Graduate with a good BSc Honours classification (first class or upper second class) may enter a taught or research-based Master's degree programme. This course has both national and international recognition.
