The growth of the digital media industry, and predicted skills shortages, make now the perfect time to study for a qualification in multimedia. This exciting, innovative field is essential to the developing business requirements of the 21st Century.
This course enables you to develop your knowledge and expertise in this important area. It provides you with the skills and confidence to compete in the globalised IT sector, one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. You will gain expertise in both design and development of multimedia products from websites and e-commerce solutions to visual communications and animations. You will also have opportunities to explore project management and enterprise.

You will engage with a variety of learning opportunities, including in-class and online teaching. Live Lab, the Department's interaction design research laboratory, and Canalside Studios, our games development business, provide final year project opportunities.
Multimedia technologies are used in a diverse range of industries, from advertising and web development through to education within the public sector. After studying on this course you will be able to pursue a career as a web developer, graphics designer, interaction designer, flash applications developer and even as an entrepreneur.
Many of our students elect to do a work placement with some opting to work abroad. Examples of recent placements include Microsoft, Astra Zeneca, EA Games, HBOS, BAE Systems and EUI Florence.
