Introduction

Most organisations and economies are becoming increasingly dependant on the software and hardware components of computer networks for the effective and reliable transmission of data including documents, voice and video. These networks allow them to better coordinate geographically distributed activities and processes for organisational and economic success. This course provides you with the opportunity to study key aspects of contemporary networked systems, to appreciate current developments and develop the capabilities required of a professional network practitioner.

You will develop practical skills enabling you to design, operate, manage and implement a range of networks based on the latest technology, assess security needs and develop a variety of distributed system applications or mobile internet applications and services.
