This is a well-established and successful course which has been running since 1981. It provides a sound academic legal education which is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Council as a qualifying law degree.
The first year provides a common core course structure that is also studied by students on the Law LLB(Hons)/Master of Law and Practice and the LLB European Legal Studies courses, allowing you to transfer between these routes after Year 1.
The interaction of law with the business world is of vital importance to the efficient running of the commercial world, particularly with the importance of the European Union, international trade and banking. This course is ideal if you want to work in the commercial and business sectors of the economy.
For this route you select business law related options in Years 2 and 3. These are Revenue Law (compulsory) and two from Company Law, Commercial Law, Employment Law and Insolvency Law and Practice. Other options are also available.

Our tutors are a mix of experienced academics and professionally qualified solicitors who will help you to develop transferable skills which will be of immediate benefit in your academic career.
As well as a career as a barrister or solicitor, there are opportunities in personnel, industrial relations, finance, banking, insurance and general business management.
The course offers professional body accreditation and recognition from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Council.
The Baroness Hale Law Society is an active student organisation which arranges a host of academic and social activities usually culminating in an Annual Ball.
