Entry requirements for this course are usually the following:

  • Normally applicants with qualifications will have a minimum of 100 points at A Level or equivalent.
  • Applicants with no formal qualifications but with experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Introduction

Industry needs people to meet a growing demand for specialist knowledge and skills in all areas of computer technology and business systems.

If you wish to experience Higher Education and develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to continue your studies on Foundation or Honours degree then this course could be for you. The course provides a well balanced mix of learning experiences to support the development of core skills in the following areas: Mathematics, English, Report Writing, Business Computing, Communication and Presentation Skills. It places a special emphasis on developing your knowledge and skills in the design, development and implementation of computer based information systems.

Should you be successful in your Foundation Year studies, then you will have the opportunity to continue your studies to a BSc in Computing to address the current skills shortage in the Global IT industry.

Years 1, 2 and 3 will be based on the relevant foundation or degree course undertaken based upon Year 0 results and appropriate counselling.

Career Opportunities

Recent graduates from our BSc Computing courses have found employment as software developers within software houses, manufacturing, government, public utilities, commercial and financial organisations, or have entered postgraduate teacher training or research. Graduates have also become technical consultants or moved to a managerial role.
