Our Facilities

A pictorial look at the home of the School of Education and Professional Development. We are based in the Lockside building and a floor in Canalside East building. This renovated mill now houses 17 teaching rooms, 4 computer labs and staff offices. The teaching rooms are well equipped, with AV equipment in every room, plus links to the internet.

Our computers in the labs are available to all students outside timetabled hours. They hold a wealth of software for our courses; including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe studio as well as specialised course software.

You will get training from the Academic Librarian for the School of Education and Professional Development on information and research skills and instruction on electronic methods of accessing library facilities. Training on the use of Blackboard will also be provided to allow students to access our virtual learning environment.

There are special facilities for teaching our school teacher training subjects, including Music, Science and Design Technology within Lockside, and a workshop for Design Technology just across the canal on the main campus.
