Welcome to the School of Education and Professional Development.  We trust that the information provided for you is of interest and answers some of your questions regarding our courses, studying with us and living in Huddersfield.  

We have over 60 years experience of developing courses and training teachers and currently have in excess of 4,500 students studying each year; the School has a strong tradition and an excellent reputation in Undergraduate and Postgraduate study, and Research.  We offer a wide range of courses in education and in childhood studies, religion, youth and community work. Our teacher training encompasses early years, secondary, and Lifelong Learning and vocational education for the further, higher and adult sectors.  There are additional courses catering for your professional development, including leadership and management, international education, e-learning, and the teaching of English as a second language. 

There is an International Study Centre located on the University campus that offers degree preparation courses  for international students who do not yet qualify for direct entry to undergraduate or postgraduate degrees at the University of Huddersfield

Our academic staff has a wide range of interests and international reputations for their research and scholarship, and several have worked overseas, or with international students at Huddersfield.  Tutors will appreciate your needs and understand that additional support may be required whilst you settle into the course and your new life in England.

The School and the University are committed to providing the best study facilities possible with an £80 million spend on the campus and its facilities over the last 10 years, and further substantial investment planned.  £3 million has also been spent for the last 3 years on computing resources.
