Shopping in Huddersfield

Spread over three floors, the arcade is in the heart of the town centre and home to specialist shops selling home wares, fashion, vintage, arts, crafts, and gifts, plus several cafés and restaurants.
Crafty Praxis - if arts and crafts are your passion, this is the perfect place for you. Crafty Praxis sell high quality handmade arts, crafts and personalised gifts. The staff are very friendly and approachable and will help you find what you need and they even hold workshops.
Endemic - a skater owned and operated store stocking all the best UK and US hardware brands plus only the best skate shoe brands on the market, including Adidas, Vans and Obey.
Huddersfield has its fair share of high street classics so you are never far from those familiar stores. Here are just a few of our favourites depending in your budget:
Topshop - is one of the most popular and fashion-influencing brands on the high street. It’s the second largest retailer in the UK and they offer great student discounts.
Monsoon - is the perfect place to find an outfit for an evening meal, special occasion or maybe a date. They have great sales throughout the year, so even though they are a little pricey, you can usually find a good deal.
Primark - is the place to find all you basic essential clothing at cut prices. This is your chance to get the latest trends and fashion at discount prices - you can even buy your essential bedding, and bedroom accessories at Primark.
Huddersfield’s Kingsgate Shopping Centre is a fantastic place for students who want all their favourite shops under one roof. The centre is home to many famous high street outlets including: River Island, Burton, La Senza and H&M along with the high street shops such as House of Fraser, Pandora Jewellery and Stormfront.
Most of the stores in Kingsgate also offer student discount if you show your valid student NUS card or even your student ID card and the centre is located just a across the road from the Queensgate campus.
As well as being home to many of the leading high street brands, Huddersfield also has a great reputation as the home of fantastic boutique stores. Here are a couple of student favourites:
Pixie Pop & Posh - a beautiful unique boutique close to the University and in the town centre. They have amazing customer service, and the most glamorous ranges of designer clothing. Fashion students love walking into the boutique for inspiration. They also have a website and you are able to order online.
Pink Cadillac - this boutique offers an amazing range of clothing at affordable prices. Pink Cadillac always have something to suit everyone’s fashion tastes with two floors of on trend and fashionable clothing, footwear, jewellery and accessories. They also provide student discount and with new clothing almost every week, they have great range of colours and sizes.
Manchester - has one of the biggest shopping centres in the country; the Trafford Centre. It has almost every shop you can think of under one roof, and it is only 30 minutes away from Huddersfield. From designer brands like Guess, Karen Millen, Mango, and French Connection, it also offers the high street shops such as; New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Republic, Topman, and Bank. Apart from shopping they also have a leisure complex within the Centre. It’s a great day out whether you are a shopaholic, cinema fan, foodie or you fancy something a bit different like laser quest or ten pin bowling. If shopping centres aren’t your thing, the city centre is also a great day out with many of the same shops found in the centre as well as some great places to eat.
Leeds - is well known as a modern, sharp and stylish city of fashion. With Harvey Nichols opening in 1996, the city has reflected the chic and diverse fashion styles through the high end shops along with high street classics. Revolutionary British designers such as Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood also have stores in the beautiful Victoria Quarter. You can have easy access to the White Rose centre and Trinity where you ca shop till you drop! Leeds has 4.3 million square feet of retail space within five miles of shopping streets, including five indoor shopping centres, one of the country’s largest pedestrian shopping areas and a whole range of speciality shopping attractions. A quick 20 minute hop on the train will deliver you straight into the heart of the city and great day (and night) out.
