Marking with Grademark: Quick Guide
How to start marking
- Log on to Blackboard and go into the module where the student assignments are that you want to mark.
- Click on the Control Panel, then in the Tools section click on TurnitinUK Assignments.

- This will open up the Turnitin Inbox. The inbox is organised by author (student’s name), submission title, report (Turnitin score), grade, Grademark icon, file, paper ID and date. You would expect the grade column to be blank until after you’ve marked the assignment; however, if the title and report columns are blank as well then this means that the student has not yet submitted.

- If you cannot find an entry for a specific student then click on the Roster Sync button - this will synchronise the Turnitin inbox with the enrolments list for your module.

- To begin marking, click on the Grademark icon. This will open the Grademark marking interface in a new window.

You can:
- Add an inline comment [1] - this is useful for quick notes, as you just click and start typing.
- Add a comment [2] - this is a more sophisticated commenting tool as you can highlight text, add an icon and the comments you make can be added to your comments clipboard for later use.
- Add a Quickmark [3] - Quickmarks are a collection of more indepth comments that can also link to supporting resources. Quickmarks are added by simply clicking and dragging from the Quickmark library. You can use the standard sets or create your own.

Inline Comments
- Select the type colour [4] for your comment by clicking on the colour pallete.
- Click on the inline comment tool [5], then click on the script where you want the comment to start.

- Please bear in mind that inline comments cannot be resized - if you want to break your comment into lines then you will need to use the Return key.
Comments

- Select the highlight colour from the colour pallette [6] if you wish. Click on the Comment tool [7] and then click and drag to highlight the relevant words, phrases and lines. You can highlight as many locations as you want by repeated clicking and dragging, for instance over a sentence which runs over multiple lines.
- The Comments dialog box will open at the point you first clicked. Add your comment by typing into the dialogue box. Make sure you click on the Save button to keep your comment.
Using the Comments Clipboard
- You can add comments to the clipboard for later use. To do this, click on the chevron [1] to expand the Comments dialogue box.

- Click on the Add to Clipboard icon [2] to store the comment. You will be required to give your comment a title [3] - this will help you find it again for later use. Click Save to save your comment to the Clipboard.

- You can use the comments stored in the clipboard - make sure you can see the clipboard (click on the chevron to expand the Comments dialogue box if necessary - see [1] above). Click on the comment you wish to add [4] and then click Save to keep the comment [5].

- You can change the icon for your comment by clicking on the icon menu [6].
- You can review, edit and add to your Comments clipboard, by clicking on the Manage Clipboard link [7].
