The Centre for Applied Psychological Research (CAPR) exists to promote and develop applied psychological research at the University of Huddersfield . Members are engaged in research in a wide range of topic areas, with particular strengths in the psychology of health and well-being, education, the arts, and qualitative/critical approaches. Whilst we have an emphasis on “real world” empirical research, we are also very much involved in methodological and theoretical work to underpin this.
Details of Centre members and their individual areas of interest can be found here.
The Centre runs a seminar programme which is open to anyone interested from within or outside the University. The Centre also has a newsletter which is available here.
We encourage PhD applications — both full and part-time — in our areas of interest. To help you identify potential topics and supervisors, go to the CAPR members page, which includes links to personal pages displaying staff contact details and potential topics for PhD supervision. These are only suggestions of the sorts of project we are looking for and CAPR members are very happy to discuss other similar ideas with potential candidates.
