Principal Lecturer, Course Leader Psychology
I am a qualitative, critical social scientist interested in issues around social and health psychology, focusing on how the assumptions that we take for granted are constructed. I have recently co-founded the Institute for Health Citizenship that provides transdisciplinary perspectives on issues around health, wellbeing and the citizen.
I owe my education to the East Midlands where I obtained my degree in Psychology (1993, Loughborough University), PGCE (1995, University of Leicester) and PhD in Social Sciences (2001, Loughborough University). My PhD specialised in discursive psychology and I was lucky to be part of the Discourse and Rhetoric Group (DARG) there. I have taught at university level since 1996 and held Lectureships at the Universities of Coventry, Derby, Loughborough and now at Huddersfield. In May 2008 I moved to the University of Huddersfield as Principal Lecturer.
