Information Technologist / Programmer
After a long number of years in printing and typesetting, Andrew first joined the University, having obtained his MSc Information Systems here, in 1997, as a researcher on the coMentor project. After a short spell as a programmer with a local IT company, he rejoined the School in 1999 as Information Technologist (aka programmer). In his spare time he sings with the Halifax Choral Society and gets involved with activities at Bethesda Methodist Church.
Currently mostly maintaining the new School website. Other specific projects have included the coMentor virtual learning environment (now off-line), the CO3 VLE Interoperability project, the Emile project and the Ethics Adviser project. Several administrative tasks with an IT angle have also been collected, eg Placements processing, Attendance monitoring and email distribution. The management of School's CAL support team has come into my remit. Future plans include more involvement with programming for Learning and Teaching.
Innovative teaching, artificial intelligence.
