Thank you for your interest in research at the University of Huddersfield.  The University considers research degree applications throughout the year but enrolment takes place on or about the nearest working day to the following dates:

• 1 January
• 1 April
• 1 July
• 1 October

• Master of Enterprise (one year full time or two years part time)
• Master of Arts by Research (one year full time or two years part time)
• Master of Science by Research (one year full time or two years part time)
• Master of Philosophy (one year full time or two years part time)
• Master of Philosophy with transfer to Doctor of Philosophy (three years full time or six years part time)
• Doctor of Philosophy (two years full time or four years part-time)
• Professional Doctorates (seven years part time)
• Higher Doctorates
• PhD by Publication

International Students

International students whose first language or language of instruction is not English should have also passed an English Language qualification. (TOEFL - 550 score minimum and IELTS 6 minimum will be considered acceptable).

From 31 March 2009, most international students coming to study in the UK will be required to apply for a visa under the new Points Based System.  Further Details are available here.

Application procedure

All research matters are administered by the Research Office.  If you have any problems during your time at the University this is the first place to visit, staff will be pleased to help you in any way they can.
