Typical points score for entry is 220 points for the BSc and 240 for the MSci, although we consider all applications individually. The Admissions Tutor will be happy to discuss your personal circumstances and offer individual advice.
If you do not meet our entry requirements then you may be admitted to our extended degree which includes our Science Foundation Year. Successful completion of this Year 0 provides automatic progression onto Year 1 of the degree.
Applications are welcomed from a wide array of background and you are advised to consult the Entry Requirements section and UCAS. When reviewing your application the admissions tutor looks at your predicted grades and personal statement. Your personal statement should be personal to you and not what you expect the admissions tutor wants to read. You are more likely to stand out from the crowd if it contains unique facts and a demonstration that you have researched your future vocation.
The team believe that choosing the right university to read pharmaceutical science is one of the most important decisions that you will make. Because of this we will invite all of our prospective applicants to a selection day. This will give you the opportunity to meet the team and view the facilities, enabling you to make an informed choice about the next three or four years of your life. The selection day also allows us to meet and assess your suitability to study pharmaceutical science by means of a test and interview.
The selection days start promptly at the time indicated on your invitation and will last for approximately two and a half to three hours.
The test covers the knowledge and skills that we anticipate you will bring to the start of your undergraduate studies, covering aspects of maths, problem solving, chemistry, biology and written English. The test will cover the basics of each discipline and should require no revising.
For the interview you will be allocated a member of the academic staff for 10-15mins and you will be asked questions relating to yourself and pharmaceutical sciences, this is a two way process and you can also ask questions of the academics.
Throughout the selection day there will be ample opportunities for informal discussions, a tour of the facilities and an optional tour of the halls of residence.
It is hoped that this answers the majority of your queries about applying to Huddersfield, remember this should be a relaxed and enlightening visit and you should enjoy yourself. The team certainly enjoy meeting our applicants and we look forward to welcoming you to one of the selection days. If you have any queries then please contact the Admissions tutor:
