The Diploma in Logistics is a professional qualification recognised throughout the industry due to the association with the internationally renowned CILT and the Transport and Logistics Division of the University of Huddersfield.
It is tailored to meet the needs of first line managers, supervisors, planners and analysts working in a logistics or supply chain role.
It is specifically designed for managers who have operational responsibilities in one or more aspects of logistics such as warehousing, inventory, transport or procurement.
In many cases, such managers are likely to have substantial, responsible work experience, not necessarily fully evidenced with formal educational qualifications. It is also relevant to individuals moving into this field from a background in another business function.
It is a programme well suited to those with aspirations to move up the career ladder in this fast-moving, exciting and dynamic industry
The Diploma is also relevant as a training programme for new graduates, from non-CILT exempt courses, who are starting a career in logistics.
Phil Doran completed his Diploma in 2007 and took up a position as a warehouse manager with a global logistics company. In 2008 he left for a new life in New Zealand where he now works for Roadstar Transport, a joint venture between New Zealand Post and DHL.
"I have been very fortunate in that I have landed a good job on the first attempt. I am looking into continuing my studies and building on the work I did at Huddersfield which really helped in putting weight behind my application and eventually landing this post with Roadstar – so thanks again!"
Jane Tack used the Diploma to move up the career ladder.
"Having worked in various Supply Chain roles for over 14 years with ICI, and later, Syngenta, I felt I needed a qualification to back up the experience I had gained and took the opportunity to develop and broaden my knowledge with a view to furthering my career.
"After considering various courses, I chose the Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport offered by the University of Huddersfield as it gave me the chance to gain a professionally recognised qualification yet at the same time continue with my career.
"The tutors and staff at the University are very supportive and easily approachable and the course itself is interesting and challenging. One of the main advantages of this course is its high degree of flexibility as I manage to fit the tasks around my full time employment and my family commitments.
"The tasks are arranged in 4 modules and you can choose from a range of modules allowing you to link the Diploma with your daily work or alternatively broaden your horizons and learn about different areas of Supply Chains and Logistics."
