First initiated to the classical guitar, Pierre Alexandre discovered composition and bass guitar during his adolescent years. He completed his bachelor 's degree at the Université de Montréal in 1998, then his Ph.D. at the University of Birmingham in 2005. He teaches composition at the University of Huddersfield, UK, and released his debut acousmatic album on Empreintes Digitales in 2006.
In parallel with his academic path, he formed in 1996 the contemporary jazz ensemble [iks], with which he toured extensively and released six albums to date. He is also part of 'ars circa musicæ ' and 'de type inconnu ', where he improvises on his instrument as well as with sound processing devices. We see him also in the studio for popular music artists, both as producer and session bassist.
He spends his spare time (sic), pursuing his interests in reading and photography, and with his family. In addition, as founding member of the no-tv collective, he does not own a working television set.
